Two-Way Audio

For both cameras, it is possible to talk or listen using the microphones and a speaker built into the cameras. With this feature, you can hear what’s happening at home.  You can communicate with the person in your camera’s view, whether you are at home or not.

Home/Away Assist

The Nest Camera Indoor and the Nest Indoor IQ both have a Home/Away assist feature. This enables the camera to determine whether you are at home or not by using the location of your phone. When you leave your home, the camera automatically starts streaming and stops when you get in range. This ensures that all the activities that happen when you are away are all recorded.

Resolution

Unique Features

The Nest Cam Indoor IQ has clearer picture and audio compared to the Nest Cam Indoor. This is due to its 8 Megapixel 4K color sensor, which has the high processing power and a zoom of 12x. The camera is also enhanced and has a close up tracking view of persons captured on it. Due to its close up tracking ability, the camera can distinguish between a person and an object. In comparison, the Nest Cam Indoor sensor has 3 megapixels and a zoom of 8x with no enhancement. The close-up tracking of the IQ also serves a major role in raising the sound quality of the audio.

 

The Nest Cam IQ has better sound quality compared to the Nest Cam Indoor. This is because it enables you to hear sounds that are some distance away from the camera. Thanks to the high-quality speaker and the microphone boost, the IQ model of the camera is superior to that of the Nest Cam Indoor in this regard.

The Nest Cam Indoor IQ has a feature known as Supersight, which the Nest Cam Indoor lacks. The Supersight feature utilizes the 4K HDR sensor of the camera and the zooming ability of the camera to show you the full picture of the person viewed by the camera, even as they walk across the room. Due to the larger size of the Nest Cam IQ, its speaker is seven times stronger than that of the Nest Cam Indoor.

 

Because the Nest Cam IQ has three microphones, it suppresses echo and gets rid of all noise, giving you very clear audio playback. The Nest Cam Indoor has one microphone, thus making the audio recording lower in quality.

The Nest Aware subscription is available for both cameras, though it operates differently on each one. With this subscription, the Nest Cam Indoor can provide person alerts while Nest Cam IQ will offer person alerts and also alert you when it captures both a familiar and an unfamiliar face. And even without a subscription, the Nest Cam IQ will still provide good quality audio and video, person alerts, and close up tracking.

 

Night Vision, the Nest Cam IQ captures high-quality video and audio even at night. This is because it has LEDs that shine twice as bright as those of the Nest Cam Indoor. The Nest Cam IQ has two 940nm infrared LEDs and an LED light ring around the cutter edge of the main camera. This helps provide higher quality images. The Nest Cam Indoor has one 850nm infrared LED, making its night vision quality a bit lower.

With the advanced features, the Nest Cam IQ is slightly larger than the Nest Cam Indoor. The head of the Nest Cam IQ is stretched slightly back by 7cm compared to the Nest Cam Indoor. The weight of the two cameras also varies, with the Nest Cam IQ weighing 357g and the Nest Cam Indoor weighing 213g.
